PS5 Cyber Monday shopping has a very different starting point in 2026.
Sony raised U.S. console prices on April 2, pushing the regular PS5 to $649.99, the PS5 Digital Edition to $599.99, and the PS5 Pro to $899.99. That means a holiday discount can look unusually large simply because Sony’s official prices are now much higher than they were during the first three months of 2026.
There’s another complication: PS5 Pro availability has become tight ahead of the November 19 release of Grand Theft Auto VI. As of mid-September, major U.S. retailers were showing PS5 Pro shortages while marketplace sellers were asking substantially more than Sony’s $899 official price.
So this year’s rule is simple:
Do not judge a PS5 Cyber Monday deal only against today’s MSRP. Compare it with what the same console actually cost earlier in 2026.
Cyber Monday 2026 has not happened yet, and none of the prices below are predictions.
The PS5 lineup in September 2026
Sony currently sells three main console configurations in the U.S.:
| Console | Current official price | Storage | Disc drive |
|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 Digital Edition | $599.99 | 825GB | No |
| PS5 Console | $649.99 | 1TB | Included |
| PS5 Pro | $899.99 | 2TB | No; optional drive sold separately |
Sony also currently sells certified-refurbished slim consoles for $499 Digital / $549 Disc through PlayStation Direct.
That pricing creates a much clearer buying decision than in previous years.
The $649.99 Disc PS5 is now the default model I’d compare first
The regular current PS5 includes:
- 1TB SSD
- Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive
- DualSense controller
- 4K gaming support
- up to 120Hz output in compatible games
- backward compatibility with supported PS4 games
Sony currently charges $649.99.
PlayStation 5 Slim 1TB Disc Console — Check Price on Amazon
The most important fact is the price difference versus Digital.
The Disc PS5 is only $50 more than the $599.99 Digital Edition.
Sony’s add-on disc drive costs $79.
So if there is even a reasonable chance you will buy:
- used games
- discounted physical games
- borrowed games
- 4K UHD Blu-ray movies
the Disc model is easier to justify at current pricing.
You also get 1TB rather than 825GB of advertised internal storage.
But $649.99 is not the 2026 price to beat
Before Sony’s April price increase, the same current-generation 1TB Disc PS5 normally sold for around $549.
Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy and other retailers were still selling it around that level immediately before the increase took effect.
Then, shortly after the price increase, Amazon again dropped the 1TB model to approximately $549 in April 2026.
That creates a very useful Cyber Monday reference:
Current official price: $649.99
Established 2026 price: approximately $549
A future $599.99 Cyber Monday deal would therefore be $50 below today’s MSRP, but it still would not match pricing that U.S. shoppers already saw earlier in 2026.
That doesn’t automatically make $599 bad—the market changed after April—but it gives the discount proper context.
PS5 Digital Edition: only buy it when the price gap is meaningful
Sony currently charges $599.99 for the PS5 Digital Edition with 825GB of storage.
PlayStation 5 Digital Edition 825GB — Check Price on Amazon
The Digital Edition plays the same PS5 games at the same basic performance level as the standard PS5.
You are primarily giving up:
- built-in disc drive
- physical-game buying
- used-game shopping
- disc-based PS4 games
- Blu-ray / Ultra HD Blu-ray playback
At only $50 below the current Disc console, that is not a particularly large saving.
Prime Day produced a much better Digital Edition deal
Prime Day 2026 gave eligible Amazon Prime-card holders an unusually aggressive offer.
The 825GB PS5 Digital Edition dropped from its new $599 price to approximately $449 with the applicable Prime-card promotion.
That is a major benchmark—but it needs to be described accurately.
It was not a universally available $449 Amazon price for every shopper. The additional discount was tied to eligible Amazon Prime credit-card use.
Before the April increase, ordinary U.S. retail pricing was approximately $499 at Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy and other major retailers.
So for Cyber Monday, remember:
| PS5 Digital price | Context |
|---|---|
| $599.99 | Current Sony MSRP |
| ~$499 | Regular pre-April 2026 U.S. price |
| $449 | Prime Day 2026 eligible Prime-card promotion |
A Cyber Monday return to $499 would effectively erase April’s $100 increase, but it would not be a new historical benchmark for 2026.
PS5 Pro has a completely different problem: availability
PS5 Pro is still Sony’s highest-performance console.
Sony lists it at $899.99 with a 2TB SSD, but the console does not include the removable disc drive.
PlayStation 5 Pro 2TB Console — Check Price on Amazon
PS5 Pro adds enhancements including:
- stronger graphics performance
- advanced ray tracing
- PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR)
- higher or more consistent frame-rate options in compatible games
- enhanced visual modes in supported PS5 Pro titles
Sony says more than 100 PS5 games support PS5 Pro enhancements.
The important phrase is supported games.
PS5 Pro does not magically turn every game into a substantially different experience.
$899 is not PS5 Pro’s original 2026 price
Sony increased PS5 Pro from $749.99 to $899.99 in April.
Major U.S. retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Target and Walmart were still selling it for approximately $749 immediately before the increase.
Therefore:
$899: current MSRP
$749: normal pre-April 2026 price
That $150 difference is critical when evaluating a future Cyber Monday deal.
A holiday price of $799 would be $100 below today’s MSRP, but still $50 above what the console routinely cost at the beginning of the year.
Do not pay $1,200–$1,300 for a PS5 Pro
This deserves its own section because availability changed sharply in September.
Recent U.S. retailer checks found PS5 Pro unavailable at Amazon, Walmart, Target, Best Buy and PlayStation Direct. Marketplace listings moved above $1,200–$1,300 in response to that scarcity.
That is not normal PS5 Pro pricing.
Sony’s official price remains $899.99.
Unless you consciously want to pay a large scarcity premium, avoid marketplace sellers asking hundreds above MSRP.
Cyber Monday stock may be more important than a Cyber Monday discount for this model.
Why is PS5 Pro suddenly difficult to find?
The shortage coincides with unusually strong demand ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI, scheduled to launch for PS5 on November 19, 2026. Sony and Rockstar have been heavily promoting the PS5 version ahead of launch.
That does not mean you need PS5 Pro for GTA VI.
Sony is releasing GTA VI on the standard PS5 platform as well. The Pro is for buyers who care enough about enhanced image quality/performance in supported software to pay significantly more.
Do not purchase a $1,300 Pro from a reseller simply because GTA VI is approaching.
Disc PS5 or PS5 Pro?
This is probably the most important decision for buyers with a larger budget.
At official pricing:
PS5 Disc 1TB: $649.99
PS5 Pro 2TB: $899.99
PS5 Pro + official Disc Drive: about $978.99
The Pro therefore costs roughly $329 more than the standard Disc console once both have physical-disc capability.
That premium buys:
- 2TB rather than 1TB
- stronger GPU performance
- PSSR
- enhanced ray tracing
- better performance/quality combinations in supported games
It does not buy a separate game library.
Both remain PS5 consoles.
For a first-time PS5 owner who simply wants to play PlayStation games, the regular Disc model remains far easier to justify financially.
For someone with a high-end 4K/120Hz television who closely follows performance modes and already knows why PSSR and improved ray tracing matter, Pro makes more sense.
Marvel’s Wolverine bundle is the current special-edition PS5 to know about
Sony released a new limited-edition console on September 15:
PS5 Digital Edition – Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition Bundle
Official price:
$649.99.
The package includes:
- limited-edition Battle Yellow PS5 Digital Edition
- matching limited-edition DualSense
- digital Marvel’s Wolverine game code
- 825GB storage
PS5 Digital Edition Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Bundle — Check Price on Amazon
Is $649.99 unreasonable?
Compare the components.
Regular Digital Edition: $599.99
Marvel’s Wolverine game: $69.99
Limited-edition DualSense standalone price: $84.99 for the separate controller product, although one controller already comes with any console.
The bundle is therefore not simply a $50 paint-job premium if you were already planning to buy Wolverine.
But it remains a Digital Edition, so it has no built-in disc drive.
Buy it because you genuinely want the limited design and the game—not because “limited edition” automatically means better hardware.
Don’t pay collector pricing for Wolverine hardware just before Cyber Monday
The Battle Yellow hardware is explicitly being sold in limited quantities.
That means third-party prices can move above MSRP after official stock disappears.
CRAOB should treat:
- PlayStation Direct
- Amazon sold by Amazon or clearly authorized stock
- Best Buy
- Walmart
- Target
- GameStop
differently from speculative marketplace listings.
If the bundle is $649.99 from an authorized retailer and $850 from a marketplace seller, the $850 version is not a Cyber Monday “deal.”
The Disc Drive matters more in 2026 because Digital is only $50 cheaper
Sony’s official removable drive is currently $79 and works with compatible slim Digital Edition and PS5 Pro consoles.
Disc Drive for PS5 Digital Edition and PS5 Pro — Check Price on Amazon
If buying from scratch:
Digital PS5 + Disc Drive: approximately $678.99
Disc PS5: $649.99
So buying Digital now and immediately adding the drive costs more than simply buying the Disc version.
The modular drive is mainly valuable when:
- you already own a Digital Edition
- you buy a PS5 Pro
- you decide later that physical games matter
It is not currently a money-saving way to configure a brand-new standard PS5.
There’s also a longer-term physical-media change to understand
Sony’s current U.S. PS5 Disc product page says that from January 2028, newly released PlayStation games will be sold in digital format only, while discs for games released before then can continue to be played on the console.
That reduces the long-term importance of buying new future releases on disc.
But the drive can still be useful for:
- existing PS5 physical games
- supported PS4 discs
- used games
- borrowing/lending compatible existing games
- Blu-ray movies
- 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray movies
So the Disc model can still justify its $50 premium in 2026 even with Sony’s announced 2028 shift.
Certified refurbished PS5 deserves consideration this year
Sony itself currently offers:
Certified Refurbished PS5 Digital: $499
Certified Refurbished PS5 Disc: $549.
Those prices are exactly $100 below current new-console pricing.
That makes refurbished inventory unusually relevant after the April price increase.
For example:
New Disc: $649
Sony-certified refurbished Disc: $549
The refurbished model lands right around the standard console’s pre-April price.
If Cyber Monday produces only a modest new-console discount, compare it with Sony-certified refurbished inventory.
Do not confuse Sony-certified refurbishment with an unknown marketplace seller’s “renewed” console.
Prime Day 2026 was strange for PS5 consoles
Unlike many previous sales, Sony did not discount consoles during Days of Play 2026. Sony’s own promotion focused on games and accessories, while GameSpot specifically noted the absence of console markdowns after the April price increases.
Prime Day later provided one particularly noteworthy Digital Edition offer—the $449 Prime-card deal—but there was no similarly straightforward across-the-board U.S. console markdown that establishes a clean Prime Day low for every current PS5 configuration.
CRAOB therefore should not manufacture a “Prime Day low” for PS5 Pro or the standard Disc console when comparable evidence is not strong enough.
DualSense controllers are worth tracking separately from the console
Cyber Monday is frequently a better time to buy accessories than the actual PS5 console.
Sony currently prices ordinary DualSense models from approximately $74, while some colors and limited editions are higher.
PlayStation DualSense Wireless Controller — Check Price on Amazon
During Days of Play 2026, standard DualSense controllers fell to $54.99 at Amazon and other major U.S. retailers.
That is the price history to remember.
A $64 Cyber Monday controller may technically be discounted, but it would still be roughly $9 above the established Days of Play sale level.
Limited-edition controllers need their own price comparison
Sony’s 2026 limited-edition controllers typically cost more than standard colors.
Examples include:
- Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow — $84.99
- Marvel’s Wolverine Adamantium — $84.99
- GTA VI Black — $84.99
- GTA VI White — $84.99
- Lisa Limited Edition — $84.99
Do not compare a discounted $84.99 limited controller directly with a $54.99 standard DualSense deal without accounting for the collectible design.
You’re paying for the limited edition, not improved controller performance.
DualSense Edge has already fallen far below its $199 price
Sony’s premium DualSense Edge normally costs approximately $199.
PlayStation DualSense Edge Wireless Controller — Check Price on Amazon
During Days of Play, Amazon and other retailers offered it around $169.99.
Then Amazon went much lower.
A late-August 2026 deal tracker recorded the Midnight Black DualSense Edge at approximately $122 on Amazon.
That changes the Cyber Monday benchmark substantially.
A $169.99 deal is no longer the strongest known 2026 price simply because Sony’s MSRP remains $199.
PlayStation Portal is another product affected by the 2026 price increase
Sony raised the U.S. PlayStation Portal price to $249.99 in April.
PlayStation Portal Remote Player — Check Price on Amazon
However, September retailer tracking has shown the Portal around $199–$199.99 at Amazon, Best Buy, Target and Walmart.
That’s an important benchmark.
A Cyber Monday Portal at $199 would be $50 below today’s official MSRP—but it would essentially repeat pricing already available in September.
PS VR2 has already established a $299.99 benchmark
PlayStation VR2 currently carries an official Sony price around $399.
PlayStation VR2 Headset — Check Price on Amazon
Sony offered $100 off PS VR2 during Days of Play 2026.
The Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle has also appeared around $299.99 through GameStop during 2026.
That makes roughly $300 much more meaningful than a future $349 Cyber Monday price, even though both sit below the current $399 reference level.
The 2026 PS5 prices worth saving before Cyber Monday
These are verified 2026 reference points, not predictions.
| Product | Current/reference price | Useful 2026 benchmark |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 Disc 1TB | $649.99 | ~$549 Amazon/pre-April pricing |
| PS5 Digital 825GB | $599.99 | ~$499 pre-April price |
| PS5 Digital 825GB | $599.99 | $449 Prime-card Prime Day offer |
| PS5 Pro 2TB | $899.99 | ~$749 pre-April price |
| Sony Refurbished PS5 Disc | $549 | Current Sony price |
| Sony Refurbished PS5 Digital | $499 | Current Sony price |
| DualSense | ~$74+ | $54.99 Days of Play |
| DualSense Edge | $199 | ~$122 Amazon August deal |
| PlayStation Portal | $249.99 MSRP | ~$199 September retail pricing |
| PS VR2 | $399 | ~$299.99 2026 sale pricing |
Sony’s April increase is the reason those historical prices matter so much this year.
Be careful with old Fortnite and previous bundles
Retailers and Amazon marketplace sellers continue surfacing older bundles such as:
- Fortnite Cobalt Star
- Fortnite Flowering Chaos
- Spider-Man 2 bundles
- Call of Duty bundles
- Ghost of Yōtei limited hardware
Some old bundles were aggressively cleared earlier in 2026.
For example, remaining Fortnite Flowering Chaos bundles appeared around $399.99 Digital / $449.99 Disc at GameStop around the time of Sony’s price increase.
Those were genuine clearance situations.
Do not assume an older PS5 bundle advertised today for $700 is worth more simply because the original package is no longer manufactured.
Compare:
- exact console model
- storage
- included game
- condition
- seller
- current standalone-console price
before assigning value to an old bundle.
Avoid upgraded-storage marketplace bundles unless you understand exactly what you’re buying
Amazon searches often surface third-party packages advertising:
- 2TB or 4TB “PS5 consoles”
- extra controllers
- cooling stands
- generic headsets
- HDMI cables
- charging docks
- pre-installed SSD upgrades
These are usually retailer-created packages rather than official Sony configurations.
They can be legitimate, but they should not be compared with Sony’s official MSRP as though Sony itself sells a 4TB PS5 bundle.
For CRAOB recommendations, the cleaner approach is to favor the standard U.S. console and let buyers add storage separately if needed.
Do you need more than 1TB?
The Disc PS5 gives you 1TB advertised internal storage, Digital 825GB and Pro 2TB.
Some of that space is reserved for system software.
Storage can be expanded with compatible internal M.2 NVMe SSDs.
For many buyers, that means storage should not determine the initial console choice.
Buy:
Disc vs Digital based on physical-media needs.
Standard vs Pro based on graphics/performance priorities.
Then expand storage later if your library actually requires it.
PS5 or PS5 Pro for GTA VI?
GTA VI launches for PS5 on November 19, 2026, immediately before the holiday shopping period.
That timing will inevitably put both consoles in the spotlight.
But there is no need to buy PS5 Pro simply because you’re buying GTA VI.
Choose the standard PS5 if:
- you want the lower total cost
- you don’t obsess over graphics modes
- you primarily play on a conventional 4K television
- you’d rather spend the difference on games or accessories
Consider Pro if:
- you have a high-end 4K/120Hz display
- improved frame-rate/image-quality compromises matter to you
- you already understand and value PSSR
- supported Pro enhancements justify the premium
- you are comfortable with the $899 price and lack of bundled disc drive
And above all, don’t pay $1,300 to a reseller because official Pro inventory is temporarily scarce.
Which PS5 should Cyber Monday buyers watch most closely?
For most buyers: PS5 Disc 1TB
At only $50 more than Digital, the built-in drive and extra advertised storage make the $649.99 standard PS5 the logical default.
The approximately $549 pricing seen earlier in 2026 is the meaningful comparison point.
For the lowest initial cost: PS5 Digital
Digital makes sense when it becomes substantially cheaper.
At $599.99 versus $649.99, the saving is small.
Near its old $499 price—or especially near the $449 Prime-card Prime Day offer—the calculation changes considerably.
For enthusiasts: PS5 Pro
Wait for authorized stock.
Official MSRP is $899.99.
Do not normalize today’s $1,200-plus reseller pricing.
And remember that the console was $749.99 before April 2026.
For collectors: Wolverine Battle Yellow
At $649.99, the new limited-edition Digital bundle makes sense for buyers who already want Marvel’s Wolverine and genuinely value the design.
It does not have more powerful internal hardware than the normal Digital Edition.
Final buying strategy for PS5 Cyber Monday 2026
PS5 pricing is deceptive this year because Sony increased U.S. prices only months before the holiday season.
The standard Disc PS5 went from roughly $549 to $649.99.
Digital moved from roughly $499 to $599.99.
PS5 Pro jumped from roughly $749 to $899.99.
Those earlier prices matter.
A Cyber Monday PS5 Disc deal at $599 could legitimately save $50 against today’s MSRP while still being more expensive than what Amazon charged in April.
A $499 Digital Edition would erase the spring increase—but remain above Amazon’s special $449 Prime-card Prime Day offer.
And an $899 PS5 Pro at an authorized retailer may be more sensible than a “discounted” $1,199 marketplace listing, because Sony’s actual MSRP is only $899.
For most buyers, the 1TB Disc PS5 deserves the first look in 2026 because its price is now just $50 above the Digital Edition while Sony’s add-on disc drive costs $79.
Cyber Monday can change the final numbers, but not the method:
Compare the exact console against its real 2026 price history, ignore reseller scarcity pricing, and don’t give up physical-media flexibility for only a tiny saving.
